About the Studio
Where art meets skin.
New Life Ink is a custom tattoo studio in Wausau, Wisconsin — a collective of artists with a passion for pushing boundaries and a commitment to excellence in bringing your vision to life.
Our studio
A collective of creativity and expression.
Whether you are seeking intricate line work, vibrant color or realism at its finest, our artists specialize in a wide range of styles to meet your needs. Every piece starts with listening — understanding the idea, the meaning and the moment behind it before we ever talk about line weight or placement.
Whether you are receiving your first tattoo or you come with experience, we are committed to a safe, clean and comfortable environment. Each artist works with high-quality machines, inks and aftercare products that are top rated in the industry — so the work you wear for life is made the right way.

Meet the owner
Jeff Poehls
Owner & Artist
Owner and artist Jeff Poehls brought his lifelong dream to reality in 2011 when he opened the doors to New Life Ink. With 13+ years of experience, Jeff has developed a deep passion for the tattoo industry and is always focused on perfecting his craft so he can best serve his clients. He specializes in black and grey photo realism but is comfortable tattooing all styles. Jeff has also mentored many artists over the years through personal apprenticeships, educating and guiding them as they begin their tattoo careers. When he is not tattooing, he is spending time with his family and enjoys a yearly camping trip with the guys.

The heart of the front desk
Tanya keeps New Life Ink running.
Jeff's other half and the studio's front desk and oversight manager, Tanya is the steady hand behind the scenes — greeting everyone who walks through the door, keeping the calendar honest and holding the whole place together so the artists can focus on the work.
If the day runs smoothly, it's usually because Tanya made it so. This one is simply a thank-you — no inbox, no booking form, just the appreciation she's earned.

What we stand for
Craft above trend
We care about work that ages well on skin — clean lines, thoughtful composition and designs made for you, not pulled from a wall.
A room without ego
Serious skill does not require a cold shoulder. Questions are welcome, nerves are normal, and everyone deserves to feel respected in the chair.
Clean, considered, safe
Every artist works with high-quality machines, inks and aftercare in a safe, clean and comfortable studio — for your first tattoo or your fortieth.
Ready when you are.
